Revista de Defesa da Concorrência welcomes submission of articles

The first edition of 2024 of the academic journal, Revista de Defesa da Concorrência (RDC), is to be published in July. The RDC is an electronic and open-access publication which welcomes the submission of articles by researchers, students, and antitrust professionals. To this end, one can access the full submission instructions on the journal’s website. 

The anonymised manuscripts are to be first assessed based on content compatibility and observance of formatting rules. 

Articles approved in the first phase undergo double-blind peer review by specialists outside CADE. In this phase, the criteria considered relate to the contribution to the scientific knowledge, consistency of the results presented, and the innovative nature of the work. 

The publication aims at fostering academic research and disseminating information on competition defence. Any articles submitted must be unpublished and address topics related to the editorial line of the periodical. Furthermore, among other rules, the texts are to be written in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish. 

The RDC second edition of 2023 was published in December 2023, with ten articles on antitrust matters. 

History 

CADE published its first periodical title on policies of competition protection in 1975, the Revista de Direito Econômico. In 2004, the publication was renamed Revista de Direito da Concorrência, and only in 2013, it gained its current title Revista de Defesa da Concorrência (Journal of Competition Defence). 

In 2015, the RDC went up the journal ranking maintained by the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), an agency of the Ministry of Education responsible for evaluating higher education research publications. In the subsequent evaluation, the journal rated B1 on the scale from C for the lowest to A1 for the highest level of relevance and quality. In January 2023, the publication was classified into the A3 Qualys category. 

The RDC has been indexed to Scopus, a renowned scientific literature database. Scopus is known for its smart tools to track and analyse research. Providing an index of the articles, Scopus contributes to the dissemination of the journal, reaching researchers, students, and antitrust professionals more effectively.
