MERCOSUR publishes 2025 Competition Yearbook under CADE’s coordination
On 7 October, antitrust authorities from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, under coordination of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), released the Competition Yearbook of 2025 during the Latin American and Caribbean Competition Forum (LACCF), held in Asunción, Paraguay.
The publication features articles by experts and authorities from South America, promoting knowledge exchange and strengthening cooperation among MERCOSUR competition authorities.
The Yearbook was created under the Technical Committee No. 5 (Competition, Consumer Protection and Trade Safeguards) of MERCOSUR, which is a space for reflection on the challenges and advances of antitrust policy in South America.
Also, the 2025 edition includes an exclusive interview with Mr William Kovacic, Professor at George Washington University School of Law and former chairman of the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
Mr Gustavo Augusto, president of CADE, highlighted the importance of the Yearbook as an instrument to promote regional integration and good practices. “This publication has become a way to share knowledge, sparking thoughts and encouraging discussions among antitrust experts, with a close look at the reality of South America," he stated.
In addition, the Yearbook reflects the commitment of MERCOSUR authorities to expand dialogue and strengthen competition policy in the region.
According to Mr Augusto, the cooperation procedure is a joint learning experience. “The more we get to know our neighbours and have deeper dialogues, the more we learn about ourselves too,” he emphasised. Access the Competition Yearbook of 2025.
