Meet the case study selected for the 6th WICADE edition
On 25 June, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) released the simulation case that will be assessed by the teams participating in the 6th edition of the WICADE competition. The case file is now available and will be used during both the written and oral rounds of the competition. In these stages, participants must draft briefs for the defence of the parties and present oral arguments before experts and academics.
This year’s case relates directly to the topic currently sweeping the country, the World Cup, by presenting the teams with the Republic of Maracanã: a fictious country also billed as globally renowned for its citizens’ passion for football. The case concerns the initiation of an administrative proceeding to investigate the lawfulness of certain practices related to economic coordination among member clubs of the country’s professional football league.
WICADE is the result of a partnership between CADE and the Women in Antitrust Association (WIA). The competition aims to promote the study of competition law among undergraduate students of Law and Economics, while also providing participants with first-hand experience of the work carried out by the Brazilian competition authority alongside competition officials, practitioners, and academics.
Questions and other enquiries should be addressed to the WICADE Organising Committee at wicade@womeninatitrust.org.
