Economic Law Journal joins RDC’s digital collection
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) released thirteen issues of the Economic Law Journal in digital format — the predecessor of the Journal of Competition Defense (RDC). The physical copies, corresponding issues 21 to 31 and 33, were donated to the antitrust agency by Commissioner Carlos Jacques.
Published between 1995 and 2002, the issues had former Commissioner Edison Rodrigues Chaves, and former advisers Marcelo Nishimito and Adriano Candido Stringhini as editors-in-chief. In 2024, the volumes were digitised and incorporated into the RDC’s electronic platform (Open Journal Systems – OJS) through CADE’s Information and Documentation Service, currently used to publish the journal.
The recovered issues bring together contributions from prominent authors in the fields of law and economics, such as José Del Chiaro Ferreira Rosa, Luiz Fernando Schuartz, José Inácio Gonzaga Franceschini, Lúcia Helena Salgado, Pedro Dutra, Gesner Oliveira, Calixto Salomão, Caio Mário da Silva Pereira Neto, and Paula A. Forgioni. The articles offer substantial reflections on the evolution of the Brazilian legal-economic thought and the foundations of the country’s competition policy.
Commissioner Victor Fernandes, current RDC’s editor-in-chief, says the initiative reinforces the preservation of the institution’s memory and promotes scientific output in competition defence. "The digitisation of these issues marks an important historical and editorial recovery. In addition to safeguarding the record of academic output in competition defence, we have widened access to content that still promotes technical and legal debates in the country," he emphasised.
The issues are already available for consultation on the Journal of Competition Defense platform.
