CADE’s representatives attend seminar on judicialisation of Competition Law
On 11 and 12 June, the National Council of Justice (CNJ) will host the seminar Defesa da Concorrência em Juízo, organised in partnership with the Administrative Council for Economic Defence (CADE), the Office of the Attorney General (AGU), and the National Council of Public Prosecutors' Office (CNMP), aimed at strengthening the dialogue among these bodies.
The event will gather experts and authorities from the Brazilian legal community, including Edson Fachin and Gilmar Mendes, Ministers of the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF), as well as Jorge Messias, Minister from AGU, to lead panel discussions on complex issues regarding competition law, from a judicial perspective.
CADE will be represented by Interim President Diogo Thomson, Superintendent General Alexandre Barreto, Commissioner Carlos Jacques, Federal Prosecutor André Freire, and Chief Economist Lilian Marques, in addition to other civil servants who will also contribute to the debate.

The panel aims to debate the standard of proof required to constitute an antitrust violation, the application of analysis categories (object/effects, per se/rule of reason), and the possibility of evidence to the contrary through economic expert analysis on the conditions of the cartel or the effects of the conduct.
