CADE takes part in 23rd IKK Berlin
From 11 to 13 March, The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) takes part in the 23rd International Conference on Competition, held in Berlin, Germany. The event hosted by the Bundeskartellamt (Germany's national competition regulatory agency) gathers competition experts from over 60 countries, including high-level representatives from the political, business, and academic sectors.
Carlos Jacques, Commissioner at CADE, is one of the speakers on the panel “Competition law meets geopolitics – balancing open markets and trade with industrial policy and resilience”, focused on the approaches adopted by antitrust authorities to protect competition in markets increasingly influenced by political interests.
According to Mr Jacques, this is a crucial moment for broadening the debate, and strengthening international cooperation with jurisdictions worldwide.“CADE understands that this partnership is essential, particularly in the context of increasing market digitalisation, where business practices are not geographically limited, and authorities’ responses must be coordinated across different jurisdictions,” he states.
The International Conference on Competition is held every two years, focusing on current challenges in competition policy and law. This edition will explore topics such as competition and geopolitics, the implications of AI for competition, the relationship between competition and regulation, the limits of administrative autonomy, recent developments in merger control, and competition in the age of total connectivity.
