CADE signs Memorandum of Understanding with the Japan Fair Trade Commission

During the 13th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN), held on the 24th of April, in Marrakech, Morocco, Mr. Vinicius Marques de Carvalho, President of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), and Mr. Kazuyuki Sugimoto, Chairman of the Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation. According to President Carvalho, “CADE is interested in working with Asian competition authorities and learning more about their regimes”.

According to this document, the two agencies will aim to cooperate and coordinate in their enforcement activities regarding competition matters which are of mutual interest. Moreover, each authority will work closely with the other, informing of enforcement activities that may affect important interests of the other. This Memorandum will facilitate and improve the process of exchange of information between the parties.
