CADE signs cooperation agreement with Court of Accounts of Paraíba
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and the Court of Accounts of the Brazilian state of Paraíba (TCE/PB) signed a technical cooperation agreement recently to strengthen the joint operations to prevent and repress antitrust violations, focusing on cartel practices.
The cooperation includes training courses, technical events, and the exchange of information, documents, and investigative methodologies and systems to improve investigation techniques aimed at monitoring and regulating economic activities.
In addition, the partnership recognises the complementary institutional functions of CADE, as a competition defence agency, and the TCE/PB, responsible for the external control of public resource management, increasing the effectiveness of the Brazilian government's response to practices that harm consumers and jeopardise free competition.
In accordance with Laws 12529/2011 and 8137/1990, the agreement is valid for five years, besides following the rules for data protection and confidentiality of sensitive information.
