CADE publishes first 2026 Edition of Revista de Defesa da Concorrência
On 30 June, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) released a new edition of the Revista de Defesa da Concorrência (RDC), gathering 10 articles on contemporary topics of competition policy, such as digital markets, antitrust enforcement, sustainability, and public policy evaluation. The edition also marks the beginning of a new editorial cycle for the journal, since it is the first edition under the coordination of Commissioner Camila Alves, who took over the role of editor-in-chief in March, succeeding former Commissioner Victor Fernandes.
Among the published articles, the first provides the trajectory of Benjamin M. Shieber and his contribution to the Brazilian Competition Law. In addition, the current edition highlights digital markets, providing studies on the application of traditional competitive analysis tools to digital platforms, the formation of digital ecosystems by major retailers, interoperability as a pro-competitive mechanism, and initial investigations conducted by the European Commission under the Digital Markets Act (DMA).
The journal also presents research focused on the performance of competition authorities, including empirical analyses on fines imposed by CADE, methodologies used in cases of exclusivity agreements, as well as the effects of Liquigás Distribuidora’s privatisation. Other articles discuss the relationship between competition and sustainability through environmental joint ventures and the effectiveness of compliance programs imposed in cartel investigations in Peru.
This edition is part of a period of institutional advances for the RDC, such as its A2 classification in CAPES’ evaluation and the achievement of the Diamond Journal Certificate from Miguilim/IBICT, acknowledgements that contextualise the publication’s editorial standards.
The Revista de Defesa da Concorrência is available for free on CADE's website and is open to access by researchers, students, professionals, and others interested in debates related to competition policy.
