CADE launches 2024 Yearbook
On 12 February 2025, the Tribunal of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) launched CADE’s 2024 Yearbook. The document presents to the society results of the agency’s achievements while promoting free competition and fighting antitrust violations in Brazil last year.
According to the President of CADE, Alexandre Cordeiro, the document sums up the main outcomes of 2024, favouring the awareness of the work performed by the authority. Mr Cordeiro also highlighted the amount of notified mergers, administrative proceedings, and investigations launched by CADE.
“In 2024, we achieved a record number of 712 notified mergers, and the average time for merger reviews was increasingly faster. These outcomes are the result of an efficient administration, and a dedicated team working to protect the market and consumers.”
The yearbook has three main sections that reflect the scope of CADE’s activities. The first, Competition Defence, shows the agency’s achievements concerning the merger reviews and the fight against antitrust violations. It highlights important cases, studies, and services launched in 2024.
The Institutional Cooperation addresses the coordination between CADE and other entities of the public administration, as well as its participation in the international scenario. It shows how important the Brazilian role is in the competition advocacy worldwide.
Finally, the third section, Strengthening CADE, presents the internal initiatives implemented throughout the year to improve the agency's performance, and consolidate its institutional recognition.
