CADE joins 2026 OECD Competition Open Day
On 4 May 2026, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) will take part in the 8th edition of the Competition Open Day, held by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The event will be held in Paris, France, and gathers authorities, specialists, and professionals to debate contemporary topics and emerging challenges in competition law and policy.
Commissioner Camila Pires Alves is one of the speakers in the session “Efficiencies in merger control: from past to future”, focusing on the analysis of the evolution and future prospects of efficiency-oriented merger control. The debate addresses domestic experiences, economic analysis criteria, and international trends.
“The debate on efficiency in merger control requires a technical and well-grounded analysis, attentive not only to immediate competitive effects, but also to structural transformations of markets and their interfaces with innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability policies. Being part of this panel is an opportunity to share the Brazilian perspective and engage in a dialogue on ways to enhance competition analysis, in light of increasingly complex markets and growing expectations on the role of competition policy,” Ms Alves emphasised.
The OECD Competition Open Day is recognised as a global platform to debate strategic topics recently addressed by the Competition Committee of the organisation. The 2026 programme includes panels on artificial intelligence across the value chain (AI across the stack), banking system in the digital era, design of competition remedies, among other topics.
The event is free of charge and open to public authorities, economic and legal professionals, regulators, scholars, consultants, and members of the media. In addition to the main panels, authorities attending the event can participate in workshops held by the OECD on 3 and 5 March, further strengthening technical exchange among agencies.
The sessions will also have live-streaming on YouTube. The full agenda and the link for registration are available in the event’s official website.
