SG looks into trade unions presidents’ conduct in four Brazilian states and Federal District

The Office of the Superintendent General at CADE (SG) launched an administrative enquiry to investigate the conduct of the presidents of fuel retail trade unions in the Brazilian states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Norte, and Rio Grande do Sul. The investigation into the Federal District’s union was already underway.

Based on the complaint filed by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the trade unions’ presidents made public statements on price increases, which could lead fuel retailers to coordinate prices of goods and services.

After opening the case, the SG will begin the discovery phase and collect additional evidence. Then, it may launch an administrative proceeding.
