CADE introduces devices to broaden access to information of the agency's proceedings

The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has introduced this Wednesday (24 February) the services Painel de Estoque do Tribunal (a dashboard for pending cases), which is part of the platform CADE em Números, and Sistema Push, a system that notifies interested parties about the progress of public proceedings of the agency. The digital tools aim at broadening transparency and access to information on cases under review by CADE.

The dashboard for pending cases, named Painel de Estoque do Tribunal, is already available at the platform CADE em Números, which can be accessed at CADE's website and present the main data on the competition defence held by the antitrust agency in Brazil. From now on, the service will also provide information on proceedings that are at the Administrative Tribunal for adjudication, with details on the rapporteur commissioner, the date of distribution of the case, the name of the parties to the proceeding, and the request to review the case, if any.

The Sistema Push, on the other hand, provides e-mail notification to citizens with an excerpt of the progress of the latest public proceedings. This feature aims at providing access to interested parties about the progress of cases under review by CADE.

The system was designed by the Conselho de Recursos do Sistema Financeiro Nacional (Brazilian Financial System Resource Council) in partnership with the Confederação Nacional das Instituições Financeiras (Brazilian Confederation of Financial Institutions), and developed by the Ministry of Economy with CADE's collaboration. Other organisations have contributed by participating in meetings to suggest the format and new features for the device, such as the Brazilian Institute of Studies on Competition, Consumer Affairs and International Trade (IBRAC), the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) for the states of Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais and for the Federal District, and the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association.

During the introduction of the tools, the president of CADE, Alexandre Barreto, stressed out that the new services provide greater disclosure to the operations of the agency, which is one of the basic principles of the Government. "The tools reinforce CADE's commitment with public information transparency and promotion of social control within antitrust," he stated.
