CADE holds farewell ceremony for Commissioner Victor Fernandes
On 11 February, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) held a ceremony in honour of Commissioner Victor Fernandes, who will be the new head of the National Secretariat of Digital Rights (SEDIGI) of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.
Mr Fernandes’ last hearing session marked the end of his term of office at CADE, featuring statements from commissioners, civil servants, as well as representatives from the legal community, and the antitrust sector. Some entities such as the Brazilian Institute of Studies on Competition, the Consumer Affairs and International Trade (IBRAC), and the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) also took part in the session.
During his term, Commissioner Victor Fernandes participated in the analysis and adjudication of relevant cases to competition policy, including some of high economic and regulatory complexity. His role at the Tribunal of CADE focused on structural issues of competition law, as well as the interaction among competition, regulation, and public policy.
Reassignment of cases
According to Article 39 of the Statutes of CADE, as a result of Victor Fernandes' departure from the agency, the cases currently under his jurisdiction will be reassigned among the other four members of the Tribunal, Commissioners Carlos Jacques, Diogo Thomson, Camila Cabral, and José Levi.
