CADE and ANATEL sign technical cooperation agreement
The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) and the Brazilian Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) signed a technical cooperation agreement to enhance cooperation between them, as a way to prevent and repress antitrust violations in the sector.
The partnership is valid for five years and includes studies, methodologies, and information exchange, as well as joint monitoring, training sessions for public servants, in addition to developing research aimed at improving institutional performance. The initiative also seeks to expand direct communication between CADE and ANATEL’s technical teams, facilitating faster responses to anticompetitive conducts that may affect consumers and competitive dynamics in the sector.
The work plan includes exchange of data, mutual technical support, development of systems that enable greater integration between the institutions, besides promoting joint events and training sessions. The Office of the Superintendent General at CADE and the Office of the Competition Superintendence at ANATEL will coordinate the activities together.
For Mr Gustavo Augusto, president of CADE, the partnership with ANATEL is essential to expand investigative capacity in a fast-evolving market. “The agreement strengthens the role of both institutions in defending public interest, competition, and consumers, allowing for even more effective action in investigating complex and systemic violations, especially in the telecommunications and digital markets sector,” he highlighted.
