Antitrust authority releases new version of CADE in Figures
On 2 October, the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) released the new version of the panel “CADE in Figures”. The announcement was made during the 31st International Seminar on Competition Defence, promoted by the Brazilian Institute of Studies on Competition, Consumer Affairs and International Trade (IBRAC), in the city of São Paulo.
The panel is open to the public, providing public data on the main core activities of the antitrust authority, focusing on the decided and pending cases of the Tribunal. Some of the information available include mergers, administrative procedures, administrative enquiries, administrative proceedings, administrative procedure to impose incidental procedural sanctions, preliminary enquiries, cease and desist agreements, appeals, as well as amounts of fines and financial contributions imposed.
The first part of the new version covers the last ten years of CADE’s performance. Proceedings with restricted access are not listed nor considered in the statistics.
The new CADE in Figures has broadened features, offering a more intuitive navigation, extra filters (such as search by National Code of Economic Activity), improved design, and interactive graphics that facilitate information analysis. Another new feature is the integration to the SEI database, which automates part of the data update without affecting the security or quality of information. Each publication goes through a standard exam after the disclosure of the minutes and the distribution of the hearings.
According to Mr Gustavo Augusto, president of CADE, the new version of the panel reinforces the authority’s commitment with transparency and efficiency. “CADE in Figures is a new strategic tool to help society keep up with the authority’s performance. The implemented improvements broaden the quality and access to information, reinforcing the antitrust policies in Brazil”, he stated.
CADE in Figures is available for public access here.
