Required counterpart contributions

To obtain approval for industrial projects and access the special tax incentives of the Manaus Free Trade Zone model, the following items must be observed:
• Compliance with Basic Production Process (PPB);
• Job creation in the region;
• Granting social benefits to workers;
• Incorporation of product and production process technologies that are compatible with the state of the art;
• Increasing levels of productivity and competitiveness;
• Reinvesting profits in the region;
• Investment in the training and development of human resources for scientific and technological development; and
• Approval of an industrial project with annual limits on the import of inputs.
Social benefits provided to workers include incentives for education, transportation, food, medical and dental care, childcare, leisure, and retirement benefits.
For companies that produce computer goods, in accordance with Law No. 8,387/1991, there is a requirement for investment in Research, Development & Innovation (R&D&I).
These requirements must be strictly observed when presenting the industrial project to the Board of Directors of Suframa (CAS), a body composed of representatives from various ministries of the Brazilian government and responsible for deciding on investments in the area covered by the Manaus Free Trade Zone.
