About the Cadernos de Política Exterior
Mission
To contribute to the inclusive construction of thinking on foreign policy from the perspective of diplomats, academics and specialists, with a view to enriching discussion in the public sphere and encouraging reflection and debate.
Objectives
I. To promote, encourage and host research and the dissemination of works on topics relevant to Brazil’s international relations and foreign policy;
II. To encourage the production of knowledge aimed at broadening the capacity for analysis on issues of Brazilian foreign policy; and
III. To contribute to deepening the public debate on issues related to international relations and Brazilian foreign policy.
Thematic Axes
Cadernos de Política Exterior publishes articles on the following topics: international relations and Brazilian foreign policy.
Target Audience
Diplomats; academics; specialists; researchers; public agents in a broad sense; civil society and all others interested in debating international relations and Brazilian foreign policy.
Periodicity
Cadernos de Política Exterior is a biannual publication organized by the Institute for Research in International Relations (IPRI) and edited by the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG). In addition to the two annual issues, special issues are occasionally published.
Note: the publication’s periodicity has remained the same throughout its more than 10 years of existence. Furthermore, from the first issue, it has been published in print and made available electronically on FUNAG’s official website – Digital Library.
Open Access Policy
The journal offers free, full and immediate access to its content, without charging fees to either authors or readers. It adopts the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public enhances the global democratization of knowledge.
Digital Preservation Policy
Cadernos de Política Exterior is preserved in the following services: National Library of Brazil (BN) and the Digital Library of the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG).
Standards for Bibliographical References
Cadernos de Política Exterior follows the standards established by ABNT for texts written in Portuguese, and recommends the use of Chicago style for articles written in foreign languages, such as English and Spanish.
Privacy Policy
The names and addresses provided to this journal will be used exclusively for the services offered by this publication and will not be made available for other purposes.
Open Access Policy, Publication Fees and Licensing
Cadernos de Política Exterior follows the Creative Commons standard (CC BY NC), which allows remixing, adaptation and creation of derivative works from the original, while prohibiting commercial use. New works must include credit to the author(s).
The journal offers immediate open access to its content, in line with the principle that freely providing scientific knowledge to the public furthers the worldwide democratization of knowledge.
Thus, no fees are charged either for publishing or for accessing the journal’s articles.
Cadernos de Política Exterior does not allow the use or reproduction of any part of the articles for the training of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies or systems.
On the Editorial Process
The submission process for each article sent to Cadernos de Política Exterior must follow the steps below:
I. Preliminary analysis to verify compliance with the submission criteria of Cadernos de Política Exterior, as published on the journal’s website;
II. Admission review (desk review), to be conducted within 30 days after submission of the original article, carried out by the Editor-in-Chief with the assistance of members of the Scientific Editorial Board, in order to decide on acceptance and subsequent forwarding for evaluation under the blind review system;
III. Forwarding of articles approved in the desk review to reviewers, under the supervision of the Associate Editors;
IV. Preparation of the review by the reviewers, which must take place within 30 days from receipt of the article;
V. After receiving the reviews, the Associate Editor will forward them to the Editor-in-Chief for analysis and for drafting the opinion to be sent to the author;
VI. Sending the reviews to the author;
VII. Return of the article by the author with the revisions or adjustments requested in the reviews; the author must revise or amend the article within 30 days of receiving the reviews;
VIII. Forwarding of the revised or amended article for a new evaluation by the reviewer, if so requested, who must return the new version of the article within 15 days;
IX. Decision on which issue of Cadernos de Política Exterior the article will be published in and communication of this decision to the author;
X. Sending the approved article for proofreading and layout;
XI. Approval of the text in its final, typeset format for publication.
The deadlines mentioned in items II, IV, VII and VIII may be modified by decision of the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors, in view of the need to maintain the proper editorial flow of the journal.

Submission Guidelines
Cadernos de Política Exterior will publish original articles that have undergone an admission review (desk review) and subsequent evaluation by two to three reviewers using a double-blind system, which ensures anonymity for both authors and reviewers.
By invitation to diplomats and specialists, Cadernos de Política Exterior will publish original articles that have previously undergone an admission review (desk review)
