Anvisa takes part in Portugal-Brazil Seminar on Regulatory Convergence

From May 13 to 15, the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) took part in the 3rd edition of the “Portugal-Brazil Seminar: Regulatory Convergence – Paths and Perspectives for Health Surveillance Principles and Standards Harmonization”, held in Coimbra, Portugal. The event was organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra.
The seminar gathered representatives from Anvisa and the Portuguese National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed), as well as experts and representatives from other Brazilian and Portuguese institutions. The goal was to discuss advances, challenges and opportunities related to regulatory convergence in health surveillance. The initiative reinforced international cooperation between the countries.
Anvisa was represented by Marcelo Moreira (acting director), who highlighted the Agency's commitment to strengthening regulatory capacity and building a more integrated and efficient regulatory system, aligned with the rapid transformations in the health sector.
The delegation was also represented by the executive secretary of the Chamber for the Regulation of the Medicines Market, Mateus Amâncio, the acting coordinator of the International Cooperation Coordination, Alessandra Dias, and the advisor to the Second Directorate, Julia Ferreira.
During the meeting, the regulatory authorities reaffirmed the implementation of the work plan foreseen in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the institutions, focusing on strengthening technical cooperation and regulatory trust.
