International position

Anvisa’s international engagement plays a strategic role in modernizing Brazilian health regulation, promoting public health, and strengthening Brazil’s presence in major global health forums.

Through its International Affairs Office (Ainte), Anvisa represents Brazil in multilateral settings, negotiates cooperation instruments with regulatory authorities from other countries, and fosters the adoption of international best practices that reinforce the National Health Surveillance System. This active participation ensures that Brazil contributes to the development of global technical references while safeguarding national specificities in decisions that affect the regulation of health products and services.

Anvisa also promotes regulatory convergence by aligning its regulatory framework with internationally recognized standards, without compromising its mission to protect the health of the Brazilian population. This international integration supports faster access to safe, effective, and quality health technologies, while expanding dialogue with other regulatory authorities and international organizations.

In addition, the Agency responds to requests from foreign organizations, embassies, and global institutions, providing dedicated international service channels. Anvisa’s participation in bilateral, regional, and international negotiations, as well as in regulatory convergence initiatives, contributes to the optimal use of available resources, the reduction of duplicative efforts, and the strengthening of regulatory oversight, focusing not only on health protection and promotion but also on national economic development.

Anvisa is also a key player in Brazil’s technical cooperation initiatives. Technical cooperation in health regulation is an effective instrument for building regulatory capacity, encouraging the exchange of experiences, and promoting the adoption of best regulatory practices across different health authorities.
