The Brazilian Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) was one of the members that joined the Brazilian Government's mission to India, between February 18 and 21. The meeting was important to foster the exchange of experience, enabling future cooperation in health surveillance.

Anvisa’s chairman, Leandro Safatle, and directors Daniel Pereira and Thiago Campos accompanied the mission. As part of the initiative, they visited the Indian Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), which is India's national regulatory authority for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and cosmetics.

Strategic Partnership

India is a strategic partner for Brazil, when it comes to the New Brazil Industry, specially in strengthening the Health Economic Industrial Complex. The participation of the Brazilian Ministry of Health in the mission was important to enhance bilateral cooperation between Brazil and India regarding technology transfer for strategic inputs and actions aimed at the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS), particularly medicines, vaccines and biotechnologies, as well as actions for emergencies of health concern and health regulation.

India plays a prominent role in the global Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) supply chains.
