The most recent development is the opening of the market in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for Brazilian beef, meat products, and offal.

This week, Brazil surpassed the milestone of 400 new international markets opened to the country’s products since the beginning of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s third term, in January 2023.

Access to these markets is the result of a process that combines negotiation and technical knowledge—a work that is often silent and ongoing. It is not only about where we can sell today, but also about where we will be able to sell tomorrow”

Luís Rua, Secretary of Trade and International Affairs at the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock

The Brazilian Government and the government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have concluded a sanitary agreement allowing Brazil to export beef, meat products, and offal to that country. With the announcement, Brazil’s agribusiness has officially reached the mark of 403 market openings since the beginning of 2023.

The negotiations with Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are part of the Federal Government’s strategy to diversify trade partnerships. In 2024, Brazil exported over USD 288 million in agricultural products to countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), of which Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a member.

Among the most notable openings, valued not only for their market potential but also for the symbolism they carry, are traditional products and emerging niche goods:

» Sorghum to China (2024) – Potential of USD 35.65 million
» Sesame seeds to China (2024) – Projected at USD 142.63 million
» Poultry meal to Indonesia (2023) – USD 17 million exported in 2024
» Beef to Vietnam (2025) – Potential of USD 183 million
» Beef to Mexico (2023) – USD 214.32 million exported in 2024
» Pork to Mexico (2023) – USD 102.06 million exported in 2024
» Pork to the Dominican Republic (2023) – USD 31.56 million exported in 2024
» Cotton to Egypt (2023) – USD 56.01 million
» Hass avocado to Japan (2024) – Estimated at USD 570 thousand

Also notable are more than 80 markets opened for animal proteins, over 30 for the animal by-products sector, and more than 20 for Brazilian fruits.

RESULTS – In the first half of 2025, agribusiness exports totaled USD 82.8 billion. This figure is in line with the numbers from the same period last year. Demonstrating the results of the policy to diversify products and destinations, the less traditional items on the export agenda have already shown a 21% increase year-to-date.

COORDINATION – These achievements are the result of coordinated work between the international and technical departments of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento/MAPA), with the involvement of agricultural attachés, other ministries, government agencies, and the productive sector. Brazil currently maintains 40 attachés in 38 countries, representing a 38% increase from last year.

CONSTRUCTION – “These market accesses are the result of a process that combines negotiation and technical knowledge—a work that is often silent and ongoing. I want to highlight the role of agricultural attachés, who pave the way and, in doing so, reduce risks and increase predictability for those producing in Brazil and competing globally. It is not only about where we can sell today, but also about where we will be able to sell tomorrow,” stated Luís Rua, Secretary of Trade and International Affairs at MAPA. Since 2023, the ministry has participated in 110 international missions.
