On Sunday, November 17, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva met with the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in Rio de Janeiro.

The meeting was attended by Ministers Mauro Vieira (Foreign Affairs), Carlos Fávaro (Agriculture and Livestock), Alexandre Silveira (Mines and Energy) and Margareth Menezes (Culture). The Special Advisor to the President of the Republic, Celso Amorim, was also present.

Lula thanked the Egyptian President for the hospitality he received in Egypt last February and invited him to visit Brazil in 2025 with a delegation of business leaders.

President Sisi spoke about the agreement between Brazil and Egypt on various international issues, such as the reform of global governance, and highlighted opportunities for cooperation in the industrial, defense and cultural fields, including the exchange of historical artifacts for Brazilian museums.

The two leaders also discussed the situation in Gaza. Finally, the presidents signed a document on strategic partnership.
