On March 27th, 2016, the donation ceremony of the book Magnetic Reconnection, which had Dr. Walter Demétrio Gonzalez Alarcon (DGE/CEA) as editor, took place in INPE's library. The ceremony counted with the participation of servants, students of Spacial and Atmospheric Sciences (CEA) and all the Library team in a coffee break offered by the book's editor.

In 2017 the members of the Library Network of the Research Units of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications (MCTIC), participated in the Meeting of the Research Units (UPs) Libraries at the INPE.
At the Thematic Seminar "The Scientific Production in Focus" various topics related to the analysis of scientific production in space research, science and technology indicators, digital preservation, and dissemination of scientific production were discussed. The seminar also covered the extraction of S&T indicators by INPE and emphasized the importance of globally identifying the stored information items in Digital Repositories to ensure their persistent access.
Cultural Event on Commemoration of the 58th INPE's Anniversary

The Cultural Event was initiated by public servants who aimed to integrate the diverse areas and competencies of INPE through activities that reinforce the institution as a whole. This event naturally led to greater visibility of INPE's achievements among its internal audience.
The program included: the inauguration of the "Geladeirateca" named books for donation and the collective cabinet located in the ADC exhibition area; live music; promoting books by INPE authors; promotion of the activities developed by several areas of INPE; tips for restoration, conservation and bookbinding techniques; photographic exhibition; prize drawing ; and community snacks.
Organizers: Services of Competency-Based Training Management (SESGC) and Service of Information and Documentation (SESID), Assistance and Benefits Section (SCSAS) and ADC-INPE; with the support of the Directorate, Communication and Press Center (NUCIM), Information Technology Section (SCSTI), Modeling and Development Division (DIDMD), Manufacturing Service (SESMF), Miriam's Stand, and New Front Insurance Broker.
Release of the book Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics

INPE’s Library hosted the launch of the book “Introduction to Astronomy and Astrophysics”, from Astrophysics Division (DIAST).
The event counted with the participation of coordinators of INPE’s areas and students of the Division. The organizer of the book, André Milone, together with some of the chapters’ authors, was also present.
The book presents fundamental astronomy and astrophysics topics with didactic approach, which fits the disciplines that go from Elementary School until Higher Education.

Small Book Repairs Workshop
October 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 29th, 2024
INPE’s Library Division (DIBIB) celebrated the National Book and Library Week (SNLB) 2024 promoting a small book repairs Workshop, on days 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 29th of October.
With the aim of teaching in a simple way how to restore the tome that has some damage, such as loose cover, lack of spine, tears, etc. A great opportunity to learn how to make small repairs and to clean the works without damaging them, and also to know how the confection of notebooks and
paper blocks is made.

In April of 2025, the Public Library of São José dos Campos promoted the “Small Book Repairs Workshop”, in association with INPE’s Library. The participants of the community learned in practice to make small repairs and to make notebook covers.
Release of the book "Brazil in the Space Age"

INPE’s Library hosted the release of the book “Brazil in the Space Age”, of the researcher Raimundo Almeida Filho.
The event had the participation of active and retired INPE’s servers, as well as some collaborators of the Earth Sciences General-Coordination (CGCT).
The book presents a detailed perspective of the aerospace sector development in the country, rescuing achievements, challenges and the reasons that prevented Brazil from consolidating itself as potency in the space race. Raimundo Almeida Filho, INPE’s retired researcher since 2016, started his professional activities at the same time as Brazil started to receive the first images of the orbital remote sensing. He utilized remote sensing technology as a helping tool in mineral and petroliferous research, just as in studies in the environmental area, always in cooperation with national and foreign organizations.

SOIREE in celebration of INPE’s 64th anniversary

On August 8th of 2025, the Library Division, with the support of INPE’s Direction, threw a Soiree in celebration of the 64 years of the Institute.
It was a moment of celebration and cultural expression, with special programming and many artistic manifestations: musical performances, poetry recitation and the photographic exhibition “INPE’s Anniversary”, with affective records of outstanding celebrations throughout the history of the Institute. INPE’s authors who had published books in the last three years also had a space dedicated to the exposition of their works and interaction with the public.
Open Doors INPE 2025
From 19-25th of October, 2025
As a part of the schedule of “Open Doors INPE 2025” and of the National Week of the Book and of the Library (SNLB), INPE’s Library promoted between 20th and 25th of October, 2025, the traditional “Book exchange Fair”, with the purpose to encourage the reading and the circulation of books among the participants.

During the week, Notebook Confection Workshop, in which the participants learned how to make a hardcover notebook from the beginning to the end (of the setting of the pages to the bookbinding) in a practical way.

On October 25th, the Library also opened its doors to receive the visitants during the event, that ended the schedule with the 22nd Science and Technology Week (SNCT), promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), with the theme “Planet Water: oceanic culture to confront climatic changes in my territory”.
Visitants from all ages could know the facilities of the Library, its bibliographic collection, other products and services that the Library offers, besides honoring the photo exhibition of outstanding visitants that INPE received. Children storytelling sessions also took place in this event.

The space of the Library was also used by students from the Post-graduation courses that made possible to the visitants to know an audiovisual sensorial room of the earth system, post-graduation associated research labs, such as information of the Scholarship Holders and postgraduate students Association (ABPG).

The “Open Doors” event was an opportunity for the public to know up-close the work that is done by INPE and explore the universe of science and technology in an interactive way.
INPE Debate: Black Science and Culture

In 2025, the Library hosted the event “INPE Debate: Black Science and Culture”, which counted with the participation of the scientist Dr. Nelson Jesus Ferreira, sharing experiences and reflections about his path in scientific research.
After the conversation circle, the public followed a cultural presentation, celebrating the richness of cultural expression with African origins, with Master Laudeni and Master Márcia Cunha, artists of Grupo Jongo Mistura da Raça, who work to promote and to preserve the black music of jongo.
The purpose of the meeting, promoted by the Human Resources Coordination (COGRH), with support of the Library, was to reflect and celebrate the Black Conscience Month, creating a space to widen the dialog about diversity, identity and science.
