Donations of Bibliographic Materials

Criteria for receiving donations of bibliographic materials:

The INPE Library Division (DIBIB) accepts donations of books, journals, audiovisuals and others, provided that the following criteria are observed:

1) The publications will be accepted in good condition for use, without any signs of insect infestation, markings, tears, or missing pages.

2) Preference will be given to publications related to INPE's technical and scientific areas of knowledge and research.

3) Publications will not be incorporated into the collection:

• That are no longer of interest;
• publications from editions prior to those already existing in the Library unless, after upon consultation with specialists, they are considered to have historical value;
• duplicates of publications already present in sufficient number in the collection;
• company catalogs, equipment manuals, and didactic books;
• Loose  journals , except fascicles that complement the INPE´s archive;
• reprographic copies of books and other materials.

4) The donations must be delivered by the donor, upon signature of the Donation Term, available at link or at the Library's counter.

5)  The donor acknowledges that, following the evaluation of the donated publications, the Library Division is not obligated to accept all of the material, and may, at its discretion, choose to incorporate it into the general collection, return it to the donor, or even offer it in exchange and/or donation to other institutions based on their evaluation and interests.
