FUNAG publishes a new edition of “As quatro coroas de D. Pedro I” [The four crowns of D. Pedro I]

As part of the Bicentennial of Brazilian Independence celebrations, the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation publishes a new edition of “As quatro coroas de D. Pedro I” [The four crowns of D. Pedro], by the diplomat Sérgio Corrêa da Costa.

With Oswaldo Aranha’s preface to the 1942 original edition, the book analyzes aspects of the monarch’s personality, formation and personal relations, as well as less known episodes of his history, such as the offering of the Spanish and Greek crowns and the plan to kidnap D. Pedro during the Cisplatine War.

The work is available for free downloading , in Portuguese, from FUNAG’s digital library. The printed version will soon be available in the virtual store.
