FUNAG launches comic book in English and Spanish about Bertha Lutz in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations Charter, the Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation is launching English and Spanish editions of the comic book Bertha Lutz and the UN Charter, by Angélica Kalil and Mariamma Fonseca, originally published in Portuguese.
The work recounts the actions of Brazilian Bertha Lutz at the San Francisco Conference in 1945, where she played a decisive role in the inclusion of equal rights between men and women in the founding text of the UN. The comic book also features the other 14 women who participated in the conference, as well as historical documents and images from the period.
Written in accessible language and focusing on women's leadership in diplomacy, the publication is available for free in FUNAG's digital library.
