Grain harvest expected to grow 6.2% in 2022

As a result of the outstanding performance of the crops in Brazil, the current estimate for total grain production this season is 271.4 million tons, an increase of 6.2% compared to the harvest in 2020/21, i. e. , 15.9 million tons.

Corn producers are expected to harvest 87.4 million tons in the second crop of the 2021/22 season. The second harvest continues to advance and exceeds 79% of the planted area. Compared to the previous cycle, the increase in production reached 44%.

Dry weather in productive regions of Brazil positively influenced the quality of cotton. The expectation is for a harvest of 2.74 million tons of cotton lint, 16% higher than the previous harvest.

Despite occasional climatic fluctuations, In the second crop of beans production should reach around 1.36 million tons, an increase of 19.5% in relation to the previous season. With the third harvest, the total production of the grain will be close to 3 million tons.

A record production of 9.2 million tons of wheat is estimated, up 19.3%. Soybean and rice first crops production shall reach 124 million tons and 10.8 million tons, respectively. An increase in soybean oil exports up to 2.1 million tons is also expected.
