ANTT coordinates Mercosur seminar on the transport of dangerous goods in Foz do Iguaçu
Brazil’s National Land Transportation Agency (ANTT) will coordinate, on August 26th, the Seminar on the Transport of Dangerous Goods of the Working Subgroup (SGT) No. 5 – Transport of Mercosur, held in Foz do Iguaçu (Paraná). The event will bring together authorities, experts, and representatives from Mercosur’s member countries to discuss practices, regulations, and advances in the oversight of this type of transport, which is essential for the safety of people, the environment, and regional logistics.
The seminar is part of the agenda of the VII Regular Meeting of the Technical Committee of SGT No. 5 – Transport, scheduled for August 27th and 28th, also in Foz do Iguaçu. Together, both events strengthen cooperation among Mercosur countries and the search for joint solutions to strategic issues in the sector.
The transport of dangerous goods — such as fuels, gases, chemicals, and other hazardous materials — requires special attention. Issues such as proper packaging, correct documentation, signaling, inspections, mandatory equipment, and prohibition rules will be under discussion. The goal is to strengthen common technical standards that enhance road and environmental safety, reduce accidents, and provide greater predictability for transport operations in the region.
By coordinating the seminar, ANTT reaffirms Brazil’s leadership role in international discussions on transport and safety. The Agency actively contributes to regulatory harmonization and improvement, always focusing on protecting society, balancing the logistics system, and strengthening regional integration.
