ANTT and the United Kingdom start dialogue for cooperation in railway projects
The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) received, this Friday (13/6), the visit of Marcelo Blumenfeld, assistant professor in Future Transportation Systems and member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and Vanessa Barbalat, head of Infrastructure at the Department for Business and Trade of the United Kingdom. The meeting aimed to align initiatives for a possible cooperation agreement between ANTT and Crossrail International, a specialized consulting company of the Department of Transport (DfT) of the British government, which offers global strategic consulting for complex railway projects.
During the meeting, director Lucas Asfor and ANTT's technical team presented the actions developed by the Agency in the railway sector, including the process of preparing the project portfolio and the main challenges faced in railway concessions in Brazil. The British representatives, in turn, detailed the joint action between Crossrail International and the University of Birmingham, through the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE), considered the largest European institution dedicated to research, innovation and education in the railway sector.
The meeting marked the beginning of negotiations for the elaboration of a cooperation project between Brazil and the United Kingdom, focusing on the exchange of information, presentation of the project portfolio, development of the Brazilian railway sector and attraction of British investments. Representatives of the Special Advisory Office for Institutional, International and Communication Relations (AESRIC), the Superintendence of Infrastructure Concession (SUCON) and the Superintendence of Railway Transport (SUFER) participated in the meeting, from ANTT.
