New Market Openings for Brazil in Malaysia and Burkina Faso
Brazilian agribusiness reaches 470 new market openings
The Brazilian government has concluded sanitary and phytosanitary negotiations with the governments of Malaysia and Burkina Faso, enabling the export of a range of agribusiness products from Brazil to these countries.
During the presidential visit to Malaysia, local authorities authorized the export of wild-caught and farmed fish, apples, melons, powdered eggs, and sesame seeds from Brazil. With a population exceeding 35 million and one of the highest per capita fish consumption rates in the region, Malaysia represents an important growth market for Brazilian producers. In 2024, the country imported US$ 1.2 billion in agricultural products from Brazil.
In Burkina Faso, local authorities approved the import of Brazilian pet food, as well as plant- and animal-based inputs used in animal feed production. With a population of roughly 23 million and a livestock herd estimated at 81 million head, Burkina Faso stands out as a promising market for Brazilian agricultural exports.
With these announcements, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 470 new market openings since the beginning of 2023.
These achievements result from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
