New market access in Kenya for Brazilian beef and meat products

Kenya’s health authority has approved the International Health Certificate (CSI) model for the import of Brazilian beef, meat products, and offal.

In 2024, Brazil exported over USD 41 million in agricultural goods to Kenya. This new market access is expected to increase trade between the two countries, offering Brazil an opportunity to expand its commercial partnerships and strengthen its livestock sector. Meanwhile, Kenya, with a population of 55 million, will gain access to high-quality, internationally certified beef, helping meet its growing demand for animal protein.

To begin exports, local importers must obtain import licenses, and each Brazilian facility interested in exporting will undergo a risk assessment.

With this latest approval, Brazilian agribusiness has now secured 321 new market access opportunities since early 2023.

These results reflect the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expand Brazil’s global trade presence.
