New market access in Japan for Brazilian agricultural products

The Brazilian government is pleased to announce the sanitary approval for exporting live ornamental crabs to Japan, now permitted without the need for an International Zoosanitary Certificate.

Japan remains a key trading partner, ranking as the fourth-largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products in 2023, with exports totaling $4.1 billion. Between January and October 2024, agricultural sales to Japan reached $2.84 billion.

This new authorization adds to a series of market access achievements in Japan this year, including Hass avocados, cassava meal, hay, dried citrus pulp, dried clove flowers, dried yerba mate leaves, and dried macadamia nuts.

With this latest development, Brazil has successfully accessed 206 new markets in 2024 alone, bringing the total to 284 market openings across 62 countries since early 2023.

These results reflect the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), reinforcing Brazil's commitment to expanding its agricultural trade.
