Minister Carlos Fávaro reaffirms Brazil–Angola partnership in food production
On the second day of the Brazilian Agribusiness Mission to Angola, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, joined Angola’s Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Castro Paulino Camarada, on a technical visit to the Companhia de Bioenergia de Angola (Biocom), the country’s only sugarcane processing plant, located in Cacuso, Malanje Province.
Biocom is dedicated to the production of white crystal sugar for Angola’s domestic market and operates with Brazilian professionals on the front lines. The Angolan government has been actively pursuing international partnerships to strengthen its domestic food production capacity.
“Angola has the capacity to achieve remarkable agricultural results using high-level technology. Following the directive of President Lula, we are committed to strengthening partnerships between Brazil and Angola through ongoing cooperation and technology transfer,” said Minister Fávaro.
The Brazilian delegation also visited Fazenda Pipe, a commercial farm established 15 years ago, spanning 8,810 hectares dedicated to the production of corn, soybeans, and beans.
Located at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the region of Malanje boasts fertile red soil and a tropical climate—conditions that closely resemble those found in many Brazilian agricultural regions.
The agribusiness mission, made up of around 30 Brazilian entrepreneurs, will continue in Angola until May 10. The agenda includes technical visits aimed at sharing knowledge and fostering cooperation in food production, fiber crops, and renewable energy.
