Minister Carlos Fávaro meets with Governor of Malanje

On Thursday, May 8, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, met with the Governor of Malanje Province, Norberto Fernandes dos Santos — former Minister of Agriculture and Forests of Angola. The meeting was also attended by Brazil’s Ambassador to Angola, Eugênia Barthelmess, and Angola’s Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Castro Paulino Camarada.

Following a series of technical visits by the Brazilian agribusiness delegation, Governor dos Santos reaffirmed the province’s willingness to strengthen cooperation by offering land for the establishment of Brazilian agricultural enterprises in Malanje.

“We have water and fertile land — and Brazil has skilled professionals,” said the governor. “We need this expertise to create balance and open new opportunities.”

Minister Fávaro underscored President Lula’s directive to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly through the transfer of agricultural technology via the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa).

“This partnership has the potential to deliver meaningful results for both Brazil and Angola,” the minister said. “The knowledge we’ve developed over the past decades can drive regional progress while also generating new opportunities for Brazil.”
