On Monday, May 12, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, held high-level meetings in Beijing with Sun Meijun, Minister of China’s General Administration of Customs (GACC), and Han Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
These bilateral engagements are part of the minister’s official mission to China and underscore the Brazilian government’s commitment to deepening technical dialogue with its largest agricultural trading partner.
In the meeting with Minister Sun Meijun, the discussions focused on the positive and longstanding relationship between the two countries, the potential for expanding cooperation, and the importance of continuing bilateral efforts in agricultural collaboration.
Both delegations reaffirmed their mutual commitment to transparency, trust, and the strengthening of agricultural trade, emphasizing the need to streamline and enhance the flow of goods between Brazil and China.
Later in the day, Minister Fávaro met with Minister Han Jun to further reinforce the ties of friendship and strategic cooperation between the two nations. The talks highlighted the pivotal role of agriculture in the Brazil–China partnership.
Key issues on the agenda included the proposal for a new agricultural cooperation framework and joint efforts to advance food security.
“Brazil and China enjoy a relationship founded on trust, mutual respect, and genuine friendship,” Minister Fávaro stated. “We are working together to ensure this partnership continues to grow and to open up new opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness.”
