Mapa’s mission to the UAE boosts exports and unlocks new opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness
From February 17 to 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) wrapped up a successful mission to the United Arab Emirates. The visit highlighted Gulfood 2025—the Arab world’s top food and beverage fair—and featured key bilateral talks, cementing Brazil’s global trade presence.
Brazilian pavilions stand out at gulfood
The mission kicked off with the Brazil Pavilion’s opening, organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). Over 120 national firms showcased products across seven pavilions. Standouts included the Brazilian Beef Pavilion, led by the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec), and the Superfoods Pavilion, driven by the Brazilian Institute of Beans and Pulses (Ibrafe), both with ApexBrasil support.
The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) also launched Brazilian Chicken, Egg, Breeders, and Duck pavilions, highlighting Brazil’s diverse, high-quality offerings for Arab markets.
Technical visits and bilateral discussions
On day two, the delegation toured BRF’s facility in Abu Dhabi’s Kizad industrial zone. They reviewed operations and production lines supplying the UAE and Middle Eastern nations like Oman, Iraq, and Kuwait.
A bilateral meeting with UAE officials followed, covering critical trade issues: the introduction of Brazil’s first UAE agricultural attaché, Vanessa de Jesus; prospects for the Mercosur-UAE Free Trade Agreement; export certification updates; and the restoration of export rights for Brazilian facilities previously suspended under the Federal Inspection Service (SIF).
The mission concluded with a visit to Seara Brasil’s processing plant and strategic fair discussions, deepening Brazil’s ties to the Arab market.
Commitment to market expansion
Brazil’s participation in Gulfood 2025 aligns with the priorities of Minister Carlos Fávaro, emphasizing the growth of international markets for Brazilian agribusiness while focusing on sustainability and product quality.
Mapa remains dedicated to securing new opportunities, boosting exports, and elevating Brazilian agribusiness on the world stage.
