Brazilian delegation explores Angola’s agricultural systems
As part of its official agenda in Angola, the Brazilian Agribusiness Mission visited key agricultural production sites in Malanje Province, gaining firsthand insight into local systems focused on no-till farming, irrigated agriculture, and beef cattle ranching.
On Wednesday, May 7, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, led the delegation alongside the Brazilian Ambassador to Angola, Eugênia Barthelmess, and Angola’s Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, Castro Paulino Camarada. The visits included tours of the Terras de Koló and Pungo Andongo farms—both reference points in the region’s agricultural development.
During the visits, Brazilian officials and agribusiness leaders were able to observe and exchange knowledge on soil characteristics, climatic conditions, and the productivity of various crops and livestock systems.
“This kind of technical exchange is essential for building strong cooperation among countries of the Global South,” said Minister Fávaro. “In line with President Lula’s vision, we are working together to promote food and nutrition security through practical collaboration and shared experience.”
Led by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), the Brazilian mission will continue its activities on Thursday, May 8, with further technical visits in Cuanza-Norte Province.
