Brazilian bovine semen gains market access in Nigeria

The Brazilian government has secured approval from Nigeria’s sanitary authorities for the International Sanitary Certificate (ISC), clearing the way for bovine semen exports.

With a population exceeding 223 million and one of Africa’s largest economies, Nigeria imported over US$880 million in in Brazilian agricultural products in 2024.

This new market access not only reflects confidence in Brazil’s sanitary control system but also opens future opportunities for Brazilian producers, given Africa’s growing population and economic development.

It’s the nation’s 34th market accesses in 2025, raising the total to 334 new trade paths since 2023 began.

These outcomes stem from the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
