Brazil Opens Market for Bone-In Beef and other Meat Products to Indonesia
The governments of Brazil and Indonesia have finalized sanitary requirements that allow the export of Brazilian bone-in beef, beef offal, meat products, and prepared meats to the Southeast Asian nation.
Indonesia, the fourth most populous country in the world with approximately 283 million inhabitants, is a strategic market for animal protein. Beef consumption has steadily increased in recent years, driven by rising incomes and the expansion of the urban middle class.
This market opening marks a significant milestone for Brazil, the world’s largest exporter of beef, and further strengthens the country’s trade partnership with Indonesia. In 2024, Indonesia imported USD 4.2 billion in Brazilian agribusiness products, particularly from the sugar-alcohol and soybean sectors, as well as fibers and textiles.
With this approval, Brazilian agribusiness reaches a total of 402 market openings since early 2023, reinforcing the country’s role as a reliable supplier of high-quality, safe, and sustainable food products to the world.
These achievements are the result of coordinated efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
