Brazil expands market access and reinforces sustainability commitments in Germany

The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) successfully concluded its official mission to Germany, held from February 3 to 5. The delegation participated in Fruit Logistica 2025, the world’s largest trade fair for fresh fruits and vegetables, and engaged in strategic meetings with German authorities and industry representatives. The mission aimed to strengthen bilateral trade, expand Brazil’s presence in global markets, and highlight the country’s leadership in sustainable agriculture.

Boosting market opportunities at Fruit Logistica

Brazil’s presence at Fruit Logistica plays a key role in promoting its fresh fruit exports. As one of the world’s top producers, Brazil stands out not only for the quality and variety of its agricultural products but also for its commitment to innovation and sustainable practices.

This year, around 50 Brazilian agribusiness companies participated in the event under the coordination of the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivative Exporters (Abrafrutas). Their presence reinforced Brazil’s position as a strategic global supplier of fresh and healthy food.

Strengthening trade relations with Germany

Beyond the trade fair, the mission included a meeting with Swantje Nilsson, Director-General of the German Ministry of Agriculture. Discussions covered key topics such as bilateral trade cooperation, the Mercosur-European Union Agreement, Brazil’s efforts to combat foot-and-mouth disease, and its sustainable agricultural practices.

Additionally, Mapa’s Secretary for Trade and International Relations, Luís Rua, was a keynote speaker at the 18th Latin America Conference on German Business. His presentation highlighted investment opportunities in Brazil and showcased initiatives like the National Program for the Conversion of Degraded Pastures (PNCPD) and the Future Biofuels Law, reinforcing Brazil’s commitment to sustainable agribusiness.

Engagement with strategic sectors and the media

The delegation also participated in discussions on the European Union Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR) with representatives from the beef, soybean, and coffee sectors. Germany, Europe’s largest buyer of Brazilian coffee, plays a crucial role in Brazil’s agricultural trade, making these conversations essential for aligning environmental regulations and strengthening Brazilian exports.

To further enhance Brazil’s global visibility, the mission included a press briefing with German media, where the delegation emphasized Brazil’s progress in reducing deforestation, sustainable farming initiatives, and its role as a reliable global food supplier.

Through this mission, Mapa reaffirms Brazil’s dedication to sustainability, innovation, and expanding market access, ensuring that Brazilian agricultural products continue to gain ground in the international market.
