Brazil celebrates new market access in Colombia

The Brazilian government received an announcement from the Colombian government regarding the authorization for Brazil to export dried distillers grains, known as DDG or DDGS, to Colombia.

These grains are a valuable protein and energy source used in feed production for ruminants, swine, poultry, fish, and shrimp. DDG/DDGS are byproducts of second-crop corn ethanol production. This crop is planted in the same area as the main crop, after its harvest, and within the same agricultural year. As a result, it does not require additional land for cultivation, leading to better utilization of natural resources.

This new authorization represents the 105th market access achievement for Brazilian agribusiness this year, bringing the total to 183 agricultural market entries across 58 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

These achievements are the result of joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
