Brazil celebrates first market access in Japan in 2024

The Brazilian government has received authorization from the Japanese government to export Hass avocados to Japan.

This approval opens new opportunities for Brazilian agribusiness while diversifying the fruit offerings in the Japanese market, one of the most demanding in the world.

Japan was the 4th largest destination for Brazilian agricultural products in 2023, with exports totaling $4.1 billion. In the first seven months of 2024, agricultural sales reached $1.71 billion. In the fruit segment, the Asian country imported $3.29 million from Brazil during this period.

With this new authorization, Brazilian agribusiness has achieved its 104th market access this year, bringing the total to 182 accesses in 58 destinations since the beginning of 2023.

These results are the outcome of the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
