Another Record for Brazilian Agribusiness: 400 Markets Opened in Just 2.5 Years

Diversified trade, quality, and close cooperation between government and the private sector consolidate Brazil’s leadership in the global trade of food, fiber, and energy

400 Markets Opened

Brazilian agribusiness has achieved another historic milestone. With the opening of its 400th market, Brazil is now authorized to export bone-in beef and beef offal to the Philippines — a key trading partner that imported more than USD 1.5 billion in Brazilian agricultural products in 2024. 

Between 2019 and 2022, Brazil secured access to 241 new markets. Now, in only two and a half years, the country has reached the record mark of 400 openings, strengthening its position as a reliable global supplier of safe, sustainable, and high-quality food, fiber, and energy. Since 2023, Brazil has also expanded access for its products in about 200 previously established markets. 

“Each new or expanded market is a victory for Brazilian producers. It is not just about business — it is about showing the world the quality, commitment, and dedication of those who drive Brazilian agribusiness. We are creating new opportunities and reaffirming our position as a trusted partner in international trade,” stated Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro. 

This achievement reflects the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC), and ApexBrasil, working in partnership with the private sector. 


New Markets and Emerging Niches
 

Among the most notable openings — for both their commercial potential and strategic significance — are traditional products and new niche segments: 

  • Sorghum to China (2024) – potential of USD 35.65 million 

  • Sesame to China (2024) – projection of USD 142.63 million 

  • Poultry meal to Indonesia (2023) – USD 17 million exported in 2024 

  • Beef to Vietnam (2025) – potential of USD 183 million 

  • Beef to Mexico (2023) – USD 214.32 million exported in 2024 

  • Pork to Mexico (2023) – USD 102.06 million exported in 2024 

  • Pork to the Dominican Republic (2023) – USD 31.56 million exported in 2024 

  • Cotton to Egypt (2023) – USD 56.01 million 

  • Hass avocado to Japan (2024) – estimated at USD 570 thousand 

In addition, more than 80 new markets have been opened for animal proteins, over 30 for the animal recycling sector, and more than 20 for Brazilian fruits. 

In the first half of 2025, agribusiness exports totaled USD 82.8 billion, in line with the same period of the previous year. Reflecting the results of Brazil’s diversification strategy in products and destinations, non-traditional export items have already grown 21% year-to-date. 

These achievements are the result of coordinated work by Mapa’s technical and international divisions, Brazil’s network of agricultural attachés, other ministries, government agencies, and the private sector. The country now has 40 agricultural attachés in 38 countries — a 38% increase in representation over the previous year. 

“These results are the product of a long-term effort that combines negotiation and technical expertise. It is often a quiet and continuous process. I want to highlight the role of our agricultural attachés, who open doors, reduce risks, and bring predictability to Brazilian producers competing globally. It is not only about where we can sell today but also about where we will be able to sell tomorrow,” said Luís Rua, Secretary of Trade and International Relations at Mapa.
