After Ministry of Agriculture mission, Turkey granted access to three Brazilian agricultural products

After a mission by the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) in Ankara, Turkey, the country's sanitary authorities approved the international certificate for the import of non-edible gelatin and collagen, as well as egg products and flavoring innards, the latter intended for use in animal feed.

In early March of this year, representatives from Mapa held several meetings with the Turkish government to expand cooperation and trade of agricultural products between the two countries. Roberto Perosa, Secretary of Trade and International Relations of Mapa was leading the Brazilian delegation.

The agenda included bilateral meetings with Ahmet Gümen, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey, and Mustafa Kayhan, Director-General of the Meat and Milk Board.

These three new market access resulted in the largest simultaneous expansion of commercial opportunities in Turkey and not only reaffirmed international confidence in Brazil's sanitary control system but also contributed to the increase in trade flow between the two countries.

Turkey ranked as the 13th largest destination for Brazilian agricultural exports last year. In 2023, Brazil exported agricultural products worth US$ 2.42 billion to the Turkish market, with significant contributions from soy and soy products, textile products, and coffee.

Perosa stated that the simultaneous opening of these three new agricultural markets access represents a significant turning point in the trade relations between Brazil and Turkey, showcasing the dedication of Mapa's technical team. This achievement not only underscores the quality and reliability of Brazilian agricultural products but also highlights the growing international confidence in our sanitary control system.

With the inclusion of the three new markets, Brazilian agribusiness has reached the milestone of 34 international commercial openings in the current year. During the past 16 months, 112 new markets have been opened in 50 countries.

This positive outcome is the result of the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
