WHO CAN USE THE LIBRARY´S SERVICES ?

All users are able to consult the physical documents available in the library's collection and use the study areas

It is also possible to research and download publications for free from INPE's Digital Library.

WHO CAN BORROW PUBLICATIONS ? 

Internal Users :

  • public servants,
  • regular postgraduate students, and
  • interns admitted in the Institutional Internship Program.

To register, internal users must present their INPE badge at the Library.

External Users :

  • Scholarship holders of training programs, scientific initiation and other programs and projects, who are providing services to INPE,
  • retired public servants of the Institute,
  • Students from other institutions who are conducting research under the supervision of INPE's staff, and
  • Researchers from other institutions who are conducting collaborative research with INPE's staff.

External users must register at the Library in order to use its services. To register, external users must present the document "Authorization - External User" filled out and signed by INPE´s public servant . You can download the form from this link: Form or request it by emailing: biblioteca@inpe.br.

 

Registered institutions:

  • Public and private institutional libraries

To register, institutions must present an official document requesting registration and  along with a completed Term of Commitment form. The form can be requested by emailing biblioteca@inpe.br.

The loan deadlines must be respected. In case of Delays in renewal/return, the user may be suspended and will be unable to make new loans until the situation is regularized.

Note: Extended loans are allowed for works that are used as basic text or necessary for the development of INPE's activities by INPE's public servants. Once the extended borrowing is authorized, the user agrees to make the material available to meet the needs of another user upon request.

CAN I RENEW LOANS MADE IN MY NAME?

The renewal of the borrow will only be granted if the material has not been reserved by another user. The renewal can be made for the same period as the original loan up to 3 (three) consecutive times. You can present the material at the Library's Loan Counter or make the renewal through the Web, provided that the borrowing is not overdue.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE OR DAMAGE A LIBRARY PUBLICATION?

The user is entirely responsible for all works consulted or borrowed from the Library. Erasures and annotations are not allowed on the Library's materials.

Lost works must be replaced by others of the same or more updated edition of interest to the Institute, according to the deadlines established in the Library Division's Rules.

If a publication has been damaged, the user must contact DIBIB for guidance on necessary repairs, binding, or restoration services

 

CAN I RESERVE LIBRARY PUBLICATIONS?

The user can reserve up to five publications at a time either at the Attendance Desk or online via the library's website, To make a reservation, users need to log in with their username and password, which can be requested by email: biblioteca@inpe.br

Once the reserved material becomes available, the user will be notified via email.

 

MAY I REQUEST FOR LOAN OF MATERIALS FROM EXTERNAL LIBRARIES?

If a publication is not available in INPE's collections, it may be borrowed from external libraries in the state of São Paulo, while adhering to the borrowing limits and deadlines set by each library.

Requests can be made by e-mail biblioteca@inpe.br.

 

CAN I REQUEST COPIES OF ARTICLES FROM  OTHER LIBRARIES ?

If an article or book chapter is not available in the physical and digital INPE collections or in the CAPES Periodical Portal, INPE's users can request a copy from the Library. DIBIB maintains agreements and for this purpose, including the Bibliographic Commutation Program - COMUT,  Network of Engineering and Architecture Libraries - REBAE and British Library - BL.

To request a copy of a publication, users can fill out the online form (link to the form), or send an email to biblioteca@inpe.br.

 

REMEMBER THAT INSIDE THE LIBRARY YOU MUST :

1.         Store your folders and handbags in the locker provided. To request the key please ask a staff member at the loan desk.

  • The locker is for your exclusive use only during your stay in the Library.
  • DIBIBIB is not responsible for any loss or misplaced items.

2.         Maintain the quiet environment in the study areas by keeping your voice down and ensuring your cell phone is turned off or on silent mode.

3.         Please refrain from eating and smoking inside the library.

4.         Respect the rules of use of INPE's public computers:

  • Do not upload or remove programs from the computers, nor download any documents that are not scientific/technical without the approval of the responsible staff member.

5.          Leave consulted works on the tables and do not reshelve them in order to avoid loss and enable statistical control.

6.          Be careful when handling bibliographic materials; do not detach, erase, or mark on them.

7.         Before leaving the library, make sure to register any borrowed items from the collection at the Loan Desk."

8.         Take care of INPE's property.
