Over 1,000 products seized at Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro

Joint operations were conducted by Anvisa, the Federal Police, and the Federal Revenue Service, with the seizure of illegal products.

In the first half of September, the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) carried out 19 operations to seize irregular products on domestic and international flights at Rio de Janeiro International Airport (Galeão).

The joint operations strategically targeted passengers arriving from the border region of Foz do Iguaçu, a high-traffic route for products under control, as well as international flights from Dubai and Amsterdam.

With that goal, a series of coordinated enforcement actions by Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency, the Brazilian Federal Revenue Service (RFB) and the Federal Police (PF) has led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of unregistered medications and peptides. The authorities successfully intercepted 572 units of retatrutide, 347 units of tirzepatide, and 198 units of GHK-Cu.

Retatrutide is an experimental drug currently under research. In other words, the product is not yet available for sale anywhere in the world.

Additionally, authorities seized 113 vials of anabolic steroids in an incident that resulted in a passenger's arrest by the Federal Police for smuggling and crimes against public health. The traveler had been monitored since departure through an intelligence system operated by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa), which enabled the joint response.

The partnership between regulatory and security agencies underscores a broader effort to combat the illegal trafficking of medical supplies at key points of entry, aiming to protect public health and enforce national health security.
