Anvisa takes part in the 15th EAMI Network Meeting

The event marked the network’s 30th anniversary and gathered 22 health authorities

The Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) took part in the 15th Meeting of the Ibero-American Network of Medicines Authorities (Red EAMI), held in Lisbon, Portugal, from September 21 to 24.

A total of 22 health authorities compose the Network, most of them from Latin America but also from Iberian nations, particularly Portugal (Infarmed) and Spain (AEMPS).

Anvisa presented the experience in operating the Rio Declaration on Regulatory Reliance and Cooperation. The agency also enabled discussions regarding the progress made by countries in the region in undergoing the World Health Organization (WHO) assessment using the Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT).

The Network was established in 1996 as a forum for cooperation and the exchange of experiences among Ibero-American authorities. Its goal is to promote regulatory harmonization and convergence to protect public health and develop standards for medicine quality, safety, and efficacy.

Honduras signs the Rio Declaration

During the event held in Lisbon, the president of the Honduran Health Regulatory Agency (ARSA), agreed to sign the Rio Declaration, joining the ten signatory countries. The signing, which took place on September 23, strengthens regional integration in Latin America and consolidates the agreement's goal of improving international regulatory cooperation.
