On Saturday, August 9, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received a phone call from Russia's president, Vladimir Putin. The call, which lasted about 40 minutes, focused on recent peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine.

During the conversation, President Putin shared information about his ongoing discussions with the United States and thanked Brazil for its interest and commitment to finding a peaceful solution. President Lula, in turn, reaffirmed Brazil's support for dialogue and the pursuit of peace. He also stated that his government is available to contribute in any way necessary, particularly through the Group of Friends of Peace, an initiative launched by Brazil and China.

The two leaders also discussed the current global political and economic scenario. They spoke about the cooperation within the BRICS framework, and President Putin congratulated Brazil on the successful outcome of the BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro on July 6 and 7. On a bilateral level, they reinforced their willingness to organize the next edition of the Brazil-Russia High-Level Cooperation Commission still this year.
