On Monday, August 18, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received a phone call from Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the approximately 30-minute call, Putin shared information about his August 15 meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Alaska, which he evaluated as positive.

After discussing the topics he had addressed with President Trump, Putin acknowledged Brazil's involvement with the Group of Friends for Peace, a joint initiative with China.

President Lula thanked Putin for the call and reaffirmed Brazil's support for all efforts leading to a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Russia
